Set credit limits

Learn how to configure email and Chaser alerts that trigger when a customer's outstanding invoices hit their credit limit.

All plans and trial

Setting a default Credit limit triggers an email alert or alert within Chaser when a customer’s outstanding invoices reach a specific value. This trigger is based on the percentage of a set credit limit; you can have multiple alerts and up to three different percentages.

You can also set customer-specific or default credit limits for all customers. This allows you to tailor your credit management strategy to your business needs.

Setting a customer-specific credit limit

Credit limits are set on the customer page, which can be accessed by selecting the relevant customer on the Receivables page.

Click Edit to adjust the specific customer credit limit.

This will open the Edit credit limit modal as below:

Within the Edit credit limit modal you can then set a new credit limit, add notification triggers (up to three) and remove any existing limit entirely.

Setting an organizational credit limit

You can set a default credit limit that will apply to all of your customers on an organization level. In order to set this up navigate to Manage > General and you'll see the option to click Edit next to Default credit limit.

If you'd like the default credit limit to apply to all of your customers, make sure you select the Update customers currently using the default credit limit tick box:

To remove the default credit limit click Remove Limit:

Tick the box to remove the default credit limit from all customers. If this is left unselected, the customers currently set on this threshold will remain the same; however, new customers will not have a threshold applied.
